029 is the Irish dialling code for Kanturk and the surrounding area in Co. Cork. See where it is and what to do if an unknown 029 number calls you.
Where is the 029 area code?
Kanturk and Millstreet. The code covers part of Co. Cork.
Irish landline numbers are written with the area code followed by five to seven digits, for example 029 12345. From abroad, dial +353, drop the first 0, then the rest of the number.
About the area
A rural north-Cork exchange; callers are mostly local firms.
Got a call from a 029 number?
An area code shows where a landline is registered, not who is calling. Scammers can spoof Irish numbers, including local ones, so do not rely on the code alone.
Banks, Revenue and the Gardaí will never ask for your PIN, a one-time code or an urgent transfer by phone. If in doubt, hang up and contact the organisation on a number you have found yourself. Report fraud to your bank and to An Garda Síochána, and ask your provider about opting out of marketing calls. Search the full number here to see other people’s reports.
Does the area code show where the caller is?
Not reliably. Scammers and call centers use spoofing to display a local area code because people are more likely to answer. People also keep their number when they move, so a 029 number can belong to someone anywhere.
That is why the full number matters more than the code. If someone has already reported it, you will see it below.
