UK phone number lookup

Who called me? Check any UK number, free.

Enter the number that rang you. We show where it comes from, which network owns it and what other people have reported, so you can decide before you call back.

569 area codes · 579 mobile prefixes · Data from Ofcom · No sign-up

How it works

Three checks before you call back

  1. 1

    Look up the number

Type it in with or without the leading 0. We match it to its area or mobile range.

  2. 2

    Read the signals

The area or network, the risk level and the reports from other people tell you what kind of call it was.

  3. 3

    Block or report

Block it on your phone, and tell us what happened. One report helps the next person who gets the call.

Be the first: search a number that called you and tell others what happened.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who is this caller?

Type the number into the search box. We show the area or network the number was issued to, using Ofcom's National Telephone Numbering Plan, and any reports from people who received a call from it. The digits tell you where a number was registered, not who is using it today.

Is it free to look up a UK phone number?

Yes. Searching is free and needs no sign-up. You can also add your own report after a call.

How can I find out who texted me?

Search the sender's number the same way. If a text looks like a scam, forward it to 7726, which is free on UK mobile networks, and do not tap any link in it.

Is it safe to call back a number I do not know?

Be careful. Never return a call that rang once and stopped, and do not call back numbers starting 09, which are premium rate. Look the number up first. No bank will ask for a passcode or ask you to move money over the phone.

How do I stop nuisance calls?

Register with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), which is free, and block the number on your phone. Report unwanted marketing calls and texts to the Information Commissioner's Office, and silent or abandoned calls to Ofcom.

Can I search a UK number from abroad?

Yes. Enter it with the leading 0, for example 01204 496000, or in international form, +44 1204 496000. We treat both the same way.
