0345 numbers

Charged at your standard geographic rate

The 03 replacement for 0845. Same price as a landline call and counts towards your inclusive minutes.

Calls count towards your inclusive minutes in exactly the same way as a call to an 01 or 02 landline, so for most people they cost nothing extra.

0345 was introduced as the 03 replacement for 0845. It costs the same as a landline call and counts towards inclusive minutes. Many banks, building societies and public bodies moved to it.

Are 0345 numbers free?

No, but they are cheap for most people. A 0345 call is charged at the same rate as a geographic 01 or 02 number and is normally included in inclusive landline and mobile minutes. That is the key difference from the older 0845 range, which carried an extra service charge.

Why do some companies still show 0845 and 0345 together?

When 0845 numbers became expensive for callers, many organisations switched to the matching 0345 number. You will often see both printed on older paperwork. If you have an 0845 number for a bank or a public body, there is usually a 0345 equivalent that costs less.

Who calls from 0345 numbers?

Mostly established organisations that adopted the number years ago for customer service. Because it is a business number, it can also appear on outbound calls from call centres working on their behalf, and the caller ID can be spoofed.

  • Do not give out passcodes, PINs or full card details to someone who rang you.
  • Hang up and call the organisation back on the number printed on your card, bill or its official website.
