How to stop telemarketing and scam calls in Australia

Do Not Call Register

Register your landline and mobile free at donotcall.gov.au or on 1300 792 958. Most telemarketers must stop calling within 30 days. Some groups, such as charities and political parties, are exempt, and scammers ignore the register.

Phone and network settings

Turn on spam call labelling and ‘silence unknown callers’ on your phone. Australian telcos are required to detect and block scam calls under industry rules, but some still get through.

Block and report

Block repeat numbers from your recent calls list and report scams to Scamwatch.
