615 is the area code for Nashville, Tennessee. 629 is an overlay.
Nashville
615 serves Nashville and surrounding middle Tennessee communities. 629 was added as an overlay, so ten digits are needed. The area is on Central time.
Nashville's music and healthcare industries both make heavy use of phone outreach. A call that asks for payment to place you in a talent or recording program is a warning sign.
Nashville is the center of country music, with Music Row and the Grand Ole Opry, and also a major healthcare management hub. Vanderbilt University and its medical center are among the largest local employers.
Music City and healthcare
Nashville is home to country music's biggest events, including CMA Fest in June, and ticket and lodging scams rise around them. It is also the headquarters of large healthcare companies, so calls about insurance and medical bills are common.
Be wary of any caller who promises a record deal or talent placement for a fee, and of any billing call you did not expect.
Does the area code show where the caller is?
Not reliably. Scammers and call centers use spoofing to display a local area code because people are more likely to answer. People also keep their number when they move, so a 615 number can belong to someone anywhere.
That is why the full number matters more than the code. If someone has already reported it, you will see it below.
